A Health & Safety Management Policy describes how health and safety concerns are managed in your business and provides detailed information to staff and other persons about your commitment to implementing a quality health and safety environment.
All businesses need a health and safety policy, but if you employ five or more members of staff then there is a legal requirement to have this in a written format. SSIP members also need a comprehensive policy for any tender submissions.
Black Dragon Safety have produced hundreds of Health & Safety Management Policies for many clients across a wide range of industries but we will take the time to get to know your business in-depth, which will help us produce the documentation that works for you.
Alternatively, we can review your existing health and safety management policies and help you to implement changes or improve this. It is recommended that you review your Health & Safety Management Policy on an annual basis, so that any changes to the business or legislation can be added where necessary.
All employers have a legal obligation towards their workforce to protect their health and safety. Regulation 3 of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 details that all employers assess the risks to employees whilst at work.
Black Dragon Safety can carry out a full health and safety risk assessment – this is not an audit or inspection, but a careful examination of what may cause a health and safety risk to employees whilst at the workplace. This will allow you to consider whether you have take enough precautions or need to do more to prevent harm. Your staff and other persons have the right to be protected from harm caused by failure to take reasonable measures. Accidents at work can ruin lives and affect your business, for example by losing output, damaged machinery, increased insurance costs, and legal and court fees.
Regardless of your business industry, we can complete a health and safety risk assessment to include general overviews, task specific processes, equipment and machinery, or one-off workplace situations. We can then help develop an action plan that can be introduced to your business, leaving more time to concentrate on the day-to-day operations. Of course, ongoing support and advice is available when you are implementing your action plan.
